A philosophy of life learned the hard way. The narrator says friendships are always the same: the more money you lose, the more the fake friends drift away. So he expects nothing from anyone, keeps moving forward and clears his head with a few Tecates. He hates humiliation and betrayal because he has lived them, but he is still at a hundred percent. At the end he goes back to his roots: beans with cheese, fresh milk and flour tortillas, and a prayer of the ruined life in memory of his father's advice.
