It was written by Tomás Méndez, the Zacatecas songwriter behind "Cucurrucucú paloma" and "Paloma negra", and it is the only song of his that Javier Solís recorded. It came out on the 1965 album "Y todavía te quiero", and Solís also sang it in the film "Amor a ritmo de go-go". It is told by a man in jail: the guards bring him gossip that she has gone astray, and he wonders who closes the eyes he used to close with kisses. The ending is one of the hardest in ranchera: the bars do not kill him, her damned love does.
