A ballad of pure tenderness. The girl is sad and he asks what's wrong, what he can do to make her smile. She answers that she can't laugh, that her love has died and her life with it. And he, who loves her with all his heart, asks nothing of her: he asks God to help her, that there be no pain in her soul, and swears he never wants to see her sad.
