Astudillo se inspiró en Juan Gabriel y el resultado fue una balada con mariachi, lejos de las cumbias de siempre, con el acordeón de David Lee Garza. "¿Qué creías?" is Selena's kiss-off song, from the album Entre a mi mundo, released in 1992. Pete Astudillo, the group's backup singer, and A.B. Quintanilla, Selena's brother and producer, wrote it in the back seat of a car: on a drive from California to Las Vegas, A.B. challenged Astudillo to come up with a song before they arrived. Astudillo drew on Juan Gabriel, and the result was a mariachi ballad, far from her usual cumbias, with accordion by David Lee Garza. It reached number 14 on Billboard's Hot Latin Songs and is certified gold (Latin) by the RIAA.
