"El barzón" es una canción agrarista: un campesino ara la tierra de otro, se le revienta el barzón del arado, y cuando llega la cosecha el patrón se lleva todo su maíz y todavía le presenta una cuenta que no termina, "tres pesos no se de qué". La compuso Miguel Muñiz, y Luis Pérez Meza, "el Trovador del Campo", la volvió famosa con el arreglo que grabó para RCA Víctor. La canción es tan conocida que un movimiento mexicano de deudores del campo y la clase media tomó su nombre: El Barzón.
"El barzón" is an agrarian protest song: a farmhand plows someone else's land, the barzón on his plow snaps, and when harvest comes the boss takes all his corn and still hands him a bill that never ends, "tres pesos no se de qué." It was written by Miguel Muñiz, and Luis Pérez Meza made it famous with the arrangement he recorded for RCA Victor. The song is so well known that a Mexican movement of indebted farmers and small business owners took its name: El Barzón.
