"Yo no soy esa mujer" (I am not that woman) comes from Paulina (2000), Paulina Rubio's fifth album, and was released as its fourth single on April 12, 2001; in 2002 she recorded the English version, "Not That Kind of Girl", for Border Girl. It is guitar forward pop written by Christian De Walden, Ralf Stemmann, Mike Shepstone and Carlos Toro. The lyric rejects the role of the wife who "never leaves the house" and becomes "the echo of your voice", and sociologists and academics count it among the most representative Spanish language feminist anthems of the century. It reached number seven on Hot Latin Songs, and its video, directed by Gustavo Garzón, was nominated for a Latin Grammy.
