"Necesito olvidarla" (I need to forget her) is from Alejandro Fernández's first album, the self titled record released in late 1992 and produced by Pedro Ramírez. It was written by Manuel Eduardo Castro, who also wrote "Otra vida" on the same record. It is a ranchera shaped like a prayer: the singer asks God for the courage to tear out a woman who already has another love. Along with "Equivocadamente" and "Brumas", it introduced "El Potrillo" as a mariachi singer in his own right. On the cover, his father Vicente wrote him "Suerte hijo" (Good luck, son).
