"Inocente Pobre Amigo" is a Juan Gabriel song from "Con el Mariachi de América de Jesús Rodríguez de Híjar", the album Ariola released on August 27, 1980. It was one of that record's big radio songs. On that album Juan Gabriel mixed mariachi with synthesizers, saxophone and oboes, which was rare in ranchera music. The lyric turns heartbreak around: he does not beg or make a scene, he lets the woman go and feels sorry for the other man, the "innocent poor friend" who does not yet know what is coming.
